2.6.25 is now default for Alix.

You mean 'generic distro'. No idea - most tested OE distro is Angstrom 
(DISTRO="angstrom-2008.1" in .dev)

MACHINE=alix in OE mean alix.1c but it should work also with other alix 
boards - they differ only in size and amount of (mini)PCI slots.
