glibc_2.3.5+cvs20050627.bb fails in do_setscene

Hej!

I would like to use a current installation of OE to build packages for a 
device released some years ago.  The device uses glibc_2.3.5+cvs20050627 
but bitbaking that version in org.openembedded.dev fails with 

/home/oe/build/out.dev/work/arm-angstrom-linux-gnueabi/glibc-2.3.5
+cvs20050627-r21/temp/run.staging_helper.15253: line 763: syntax error 
near unexpected token `" | grep -v "'

It's exactly the same error as in an IRC chat from 20080719: http://
ibot.rikers.org/%23oe/20080719.html.gz, reported by khem at 21:33.59.  
But I can't detect a solution in the chat?  There is nothing in bugzilla 
noone else has reported it to a mailinglist.  Is this unsolvable?  Or can 
this testlab stuff be disabled?
