[Openembedded-users] Is there new, yet stable branch?

org.openembedded.stable is so old that it isn't useful (for me)
org.openembedded.dev is so bleeding-edge that it isn't usable

Of the many many other branches I don't know what's what.

Is there some sort of 6-month cycle branch that I can use that I can expect
to be relatively stable - things build, but also relatively new?

I'd love to just use Angstrom and forgo rolling my own OpenEmbedded packages
altogether,
but they don't always have the packages that I need.
