=OE Technical Steering Committee=

The TSC consists of 5 people who are elected by, and ultimately be answerable to, the members of the OpenEmbedded organisation.

Here is the [[TSCCharter | working copy]] of the new TSC charter.

The TSC meets on an irregular basis, but is happy to hold meetings on request if there are issues to discuss.

The TSC discusses technical issues for the direction of OpenEmbedded. Note that the TSC is NOT chartered with actually doing all of the work discussed, but they do make every effort to locate resources to do that work.

In order by election:

* Martin Jansa (JaMa) - re-elected Aug 2019
* Richard Purdie (RP) - re-elected Aug 2019
* Paul Eggleton (bluelightning) - re-elected Aug 2019
* Bruce Ashfield elected Aug 2019

Each member serves a two-year term. During election time, one member may stand for election every two months.

= Responsibilities =

On a day-to-day basis the TSC is responsible for making
tactical policy decisions, resolving disputes between contributors,
administering access control to the git tree, and generally promoting
good development practice.

= Decision Making =

Decisions are made where necessary by majority vote. Once a decision is made by
the technical steering committee, the decision should be respected as a democratic decision.

= TSC topics =

This list keeps a running list of topics for the TSC. If you would like to add a topic for discussion, please e-mail one of the TSC members or the list curator [mailto:JPEWhacker@gmail.com Joshua Watt] so that the TSC is aware of the change. The issue will be added to the agenda for the next meeting. If the issue is particularly urgent, a specific TSC meeting may be called.

A revert is a special type of commit which undos another commit. This is our policy for reverts:

# Reverting your own commit is never a problem. This can be necessary to fix an important bug introduced by your commit or something you accidently committed.
# Reverting a commit of another user is a problem. If you wish to do so, please post a request for comments to the mailing list and wait until you either get the ACK of the committer or two ACKs non-committer ACKs. Do _not_ revert before getting any of those ACKs.

The current organization for OE is a German eV legal entity (similar to KDE: http://ev.kde.org/) and is for the purpose of managing finances, voting, and membership.

An 'eV' for 'eingetragener Verein', in the German law, translates to a voluntary organization; a group of individuals who voluntarily enter into an agreement to form a body (or organization) to accomplish a purpose. The organization has members.

This group of people is responsible for steering the OE project in the direction
which best serves the majority of its developers. Its purpose is to make
any necessary decisions regarding key changes to the project, usually after
discussion and consultation with the user/developer base.

Presently this group consists of key people responsible for bringing OE to the
position it is in today. In future once the OE e.V. is established along with
membership criteria it is likely this group will become elected.

The current organization for OE is a German eV legal entity (similar to KDE: http://ev.kde.org/) and is for the purpose of managing finances, voting, and membership.

An 'eV' for 'eingetragener Verein', in the German law, translates to a voluntary organization; a group of individuals who voluntarily enter into an agreement to form a body (or organization) to accomplish a purpose. The organization has members.
