There is an xattr distro feature.  It would be better to use:

ENABLE_XATTR = "${@base_contains('DISTRO_FEATURES', 'xattr', '--enable-xattr', 
'--disable-xattr', d)}"

EXTRA_OECONF += "${ENABLE_XATTR}"

(Might need a -native/-nativesdk version?)
