Or (as there's a number of ways to do this):
PACKAGE_REMOVE = "kernel-image-*"
ROOTFS_POSTPROCESS_COMMAND_om-gta01 += "opkg-cl ${IPKG_ARGS}
-force-depends \
                                remove ${PACKAGE_REMOVE};"
