The observations:

1. My distro doesn't "inherit debian"
2. boost_1.33.0.bb does create a number of packages with libs (e.g., PACKAGES
+= "boost-filesystem")
3. boost.bb does "inherit debian", hence these packages end up deployed with
debian-style names (libboost-filesystem1.33.0_1.33.0-r1_arm.ipk)
4. The ipkg dependencies for packages that DEPEND="boost" are determined to be
the non-debian-style packages (Depends: boost-filesystem (>= 1.33.0)), hence
the installation of these packages on target system fails.
5. The ipkg dependencies were determined correctly in an oe.dev tree from Sept.
1st

Quick fix:

Remove the "inherit debian" line from boost.bb. Why is it there in the first
place?

Slow fix:

Make the dependency determination handle this correctly :S
