I actually like the fact that I can install mkimage without building u-boot. 
Right now I am focusing on a kernel image for a machine with u-boot already
installed.  I need mkimage to prepare the kernel for download on to the machine
running u-boot, but I do not need uboot (yet).  I would like to put off messing
with my ${UBBOT_MACHINE} configuration for as long as possible...

  So if possible, I'd like to keep them separate, at least at the "bb" level. 
I am indifferent to whether or not the contents of packages/uboot-utils gets
rolled into packages/uboot

Just my opinion.
