Well, I didn't have any obvious problems with version handling of ipkg itself,
nor heard about them from other people. I decided to do clean room test though,
and built opie-icon-reload (which is just a shell script) of versions 1.2.2-r0
and 1.2.2+cvs20070308-r0:
root at h4000:/home/pfalcon$ ipkg list_installed|grep opie
opie-icon-reload - 1.2.2-r0 - Reload .desktop files on the fly
root at h4000:/home/pfalcon$ ipkg install opie-icon-reload
Upgrading opie-icon-reload on root from 1.2.2-r0 to 1.2.2+cvs20070308-r0...
Downloading

Configuring opie-icon-reload
root at h4000:/home/pfalcon$ ipkg list_installed|grep opie
opie-icon-reload - 1.2.2+cvs20070308-r0 - Reload .desktop files on the fly
root at h4000:/home/pfalcon$
I don't try to dig in ipkg source, but assume that it is smart enough to at
least treat "-rN" as package revision and compare 1.2.2 vs 1.2.2+cvs20070308
first of all.
So, we have situation when bitbake handles versions well, ipkg handles well,
and only ipkg-utils behave.
