Is anybody able to actually BUILD the Angstrom release?

Is anybody able to actually BUILD the Angstrom release for the
Beagleboard from scratch? - because I have failed miserably doing so.

Host is Debian Lenny x86-32, with Bitbake 1.8.10-3 installed.

I get failures just trying to build the native tools, so I am not even
getting into building the target files.

Most of the failures seem to be of the form of:
A native package is built, and attempts to install libraries. However,
no .lai files were generated, so the oe_libinstall fails as it requires
that file to exist.

This is really dismaying, as I'd hoped to use OpenEmbedded in a project,
but the fact that I cannot get something as simple as building a
standard project for a standard distribution for a standard hardware
platform doesn't bode well for me getting a customized build working.

(and I apologize in advance for the following wart: it is required by
Corporate, inserted by the mail server, and I cannot turn it off. The
intended distribution of this mail is world-wide, the intended
recipients are everybody on the list. Lawyers.... blech).
