OE is infrastructure which is used by embedded distributions e.g. angstrom,
poky etc. Now angstrom has its own release versions as you can see it goes
by years "angstrom-2008.1" is angstrom version released first in 2008
Distributions have their own policies around package versions and features
they would support. e.g. toolchain versions or what ssh server to use eg.
They would define the policies and yet leave room for
you to configure it to your needs with in the realms of policy as OE is
configurable you definitely want to leavarage that.

Everyone starts somewhere, One downside of being flexible is it gets
difficult to understand the structure however there is some documentation
and we always welcome improvements to documentation and or wiki pages
